This pattern is from the Japanese book She Has A Mannish Style. The patterns are all androgynous or influenced by men’s styles, and this blouse is based on a man’s dress shirt but with gathered sleeve cuffs and a peter pan collar. It’s designed to be oversized (I actually narrowed it about an inch) so it looks best with skinny jeans.

It was quite easy to sew, but I did decide to leave off the breast pockets because I didn’t have quite enough fabric. I also did the buttonholes by hand because my machine’s buttonhole stitch tends to be too loose. Hand stitching the buttonholes took twice as long as the rest of the shirt!

The fabric I used is very light, so this blouse could be warn in Spring and Autumn and cooler Summer days. Unfortunately the collar didn’t sit quite right in these photos, but a wash and good press should take care of that.
