I created this coral colored maxi dress for summer. I’m a curvy girl, with short legs, so maxi dresses are nearly impossible to find in stores. Making this one was fun, and allowed me to try out a couple of new techniques. It’s an incredibly comfortable, wearable dress. I may well make many more!
-I omitted the bands around the arm holes and neckline, mostly because I could not figure out how they were supposed to work in the pattern.
-The neck was huge, so I made some alterations on the flat pattern, for a better fit. The original bad fit may have been a result of my not understanding the neck bands…
- The two layers of the bodice were sewn right sides facing, and turned. I edge stitched it for a nicer finish.
- Because this fabric had quite a bit of body, despite being very lightweight, I omitted the lining on the skirt entirely.
