Today I present you two home-tailored creations at the same time: pants of a stunning birds fabric and a handbag in gipsy style that I designed and sewed myself.
The pants’ fabric is from Bogner. A sewing friend sewed these pants, too, and I was thrilled that I wanted these pants for myself. The fabric show Phantasy birds (or are they Hummingbirds?) in rich colors on an light gray colored stretch fabric. These pants are based on pattern No. 107 from the Burdastyle magazine 11/2012.
It’s not the first time that I made a handbag and. As I’m a lover of details, it’s so much fun to work with different materials, gold or silver hardware, to create an unique handbag. For this project I used goatskin, fabric remnants of a Linton tweed and rattan honeycomb weave (normally used for seats). The pattern is designed by myself, I glazed the rattan weave in emerald green first and then I sewed the bag with my Singer sewing machine (it works very well, using a special leather needle). The gold colored hardware is partly from old handbags. On my site “About me” I already told you that I always keep an eye on getting material bargains formy sewing projects, because hardware for handbags is really expensive. For example, the golden chain on front of my bag was a belt from a discounter, the fringes are from a leather string from a medieval festival, the gold plate is from a cheap no-name handbag… A view high-quality things like eyes and carabiner rings are purchased from a leather shop (Leder-Baumann). The leather handles are from Hoooked Zpagetti.
