I used the Basic Shift Sloper to create this casual holiday dress.

I wanted more of a trapeze shape to my dress, so I brought in the neckline slightly and added fullness to the from and back sides. I also wanted my lining to be seen so I graded in a high-low hem. I folded the dress hem and the lining hem to even lengths and sewed them together using black thread as my main thread and red thread in the bobbin. ( I only had to rip out the hem 3 times to get it just right. ) Ultimately, my fabric was a little too heavy to acheive an even drape in the back, but overall, it was comfortable and fun to wear.
