Wrap Shorts – Burdastyle 06/2014 #124

These leather look envelope shorts were fairly straight forward to make; I made them in one size up. The sheet of ruby-brown synthetic vinyl-leather I found for only $2 in the thrift store. When it came to the stitching I tried to use paper clips instead of pins to avoid leaving holes in visible areas. Things got a little too thick to get the machine needle through in places, namely the waistband and at the side seams, so I did a bit of hand stitching and even super-gluing. I lined the inside and main part of the shorts using a vintage gold lining scrap from my stash, to hide the white underside of the vinyl-leather, but the two front flaps for the fake skirt I left unlined. All edge seams are just stitched straight down on top of the lining lolz. The zip is definitely not an invisible zip, I just used a mustard color metal vintage zip from my supplies. They feel hot to wear at the moment as its summer. Location: St Mary’s Bay
