Bandeau DIY – Burdastyle 7/2013
In making this bandeau, don’t do what I did by not using stretchy fabric; I mistakenly used a very tightly woven fabric, namely a medium thickness cotton remnant – my friend gave it to me after she made a garment from it – but I thought the tribal/tropical pattern looked cool lol. To make it comfortable I elasticized the back strap, which is completely stitched in, and that feels great I.e. breathable lol. I also added neck straps, making them and the lower band both able to be separated. However the lower band still needed to also be elasticized, or it would be constricting on the lungs when it is fastened and be in need of more give around the gut lol. So on the neck strap and the wide band I added bra fasteners; whilst the bra fastener for the wide band has a little necessary elastic added, which has improved the comfort value. In fact a wide band like this could actually sit looser on the body, and still look good, I’m thinking.
