I made this Steampunk costume for my sister so that we could go as a theme (I wore Simplicity 2172). I chose this pattern for my sister because the jacket could be worn later with a skinny t-shirt and jeans for a night out on the town. This dress is actually not that tough, but because I don’t have a serger, I had to finish ALL of the ruffle edges with a double zig-zag stitch. Even if you have a serger for that part, it’s going to take you a LONG time. Build in lots of construction time for this dress — you’ll be glad you did!
