I originally wanted to do a fantastic maxi dress, but didn’t get enough fabric! So I had to improvise.
I drafted the top myself, and incorporated the length of the dress from a different pattern that I had.
As I still didn’t have enough fabric to make it wide enough, I then had to cut panels from the left overs and insert them!
Then I had an overlocker issue and snagged one seam in the front creating a fold for half of the length, so I had to duplicate this mistake on the other side!! You can’t see this detail in the picture though.
After all that, I think I came up with quite a striking dress – it fit me better last November when I made it as I have unfortunately become a bit more cuddly since then!
