Description

Here’s the second prop I made for my friend who practices zazen (zen meditation). Approx 75×75 cm, about 7 cm tall. It has an invisible zipper on the side. There is an inner pillow that contains the synthetic filling, but you need to remove the tufts in order to take it out. I really enjoyed making the tufts and I think I’ll make a nice tufty pillow for myself some time :-)

Other possible uses for this type of project: floor pillows, throw pillows, chair or bench cushions.

I made the whole thing using fabric and zipper from my stash. I had to purchase the filling though.

    I’ve made many of these over the years but always small sofa pillows. I never thought to make an oversized version! Love it! Very nice job.

      Thanks so much! You wouldn’t believe what happened… My friend found that the pillow was a tad too small and we both thought the filling needed to be firmer. No harm done – a few minutes later his cat boldly expressed his wish to own the floor pillow! The cat curled up on it and looked so cute and happy there. So I will make a second version. And I was thinking of somehow making a headboard for a bed covered in such a long decorative pillow. What do you think? Any ideas how to attach it to some sort of frame?

    This is great! I was thinking of making a really over sized version as a lounge pillow for my apartment.
