Today is my daughter’s UN day at school. I thought of this kimono last minute the night before….it was hell to make! But worth the effort, I guess :)
not sure what kind of material...I got this from the factory...I think it was a leftover from chair upholstery

it wasn’t the easiest project…did a lot of cutting and I used a Japanese pattern book to make this :) Bought it in Kinokuniya, there should be 1 in Takashimaya, just look under the children’s dresses section. Good luck :)

Your daughter is a beauty. This is a great job, especially in two days. I love yukatas for around the house. It’s one thing you can wear that doesn’t bind or rub the skin while not getting you odd looks from the UPS deliveryman/woman. I’m setting up my fourth one now; I just wish I could find the left sleeve. I may have to make a new set. :( Cordially, Nehmah

Lovely!
One tip: if you make her Kimono or Yukata put on, left side must be top of the wrap(so opposit side what you did). Maybe nobody cares, but it looks a bit uncomfortable feeling for Japanese.

thanks for the tip Sakko…I had no idea :)…not even sure if I tied the kimono right…the Japanese book I have doesn’t have a tying the yukata how-to :(

what you have done is actually perfect! Yukata is just casual wear, so there is not really big rule to wear. Just put left side front is a big thing in Japan. About kimono, I don’t have any idea, so just like you! Please just enjoy sewing more and exostic things!

nope nope…I actually started midnight 2 nights before then finished it midnight the night before :)…the sewing part is actually pretty easy…it’s trying to interpret the Japanese book what makes it hard :D
