I got such solid reactions when I wore this to work for the first time this week. I had so many people shout “Hey, you’re an envelope!” with twinkling eyes, then try to shove paper down my front or back! I’m happy to lighten up their day :)
This airmail border-print fabric from South Korea caught my eye a long time ago. I saw it made up into pillows at the time, but didn’t need bedlinen, so I didn’t buy the fabric!
I have also had this vintage pattern for nearly a year. But the two didn’t mix, until out of the blue one day – bingo!
I modified a simple tried-and-true shift pattern and cut off the airmail border to make the binding. You can’t really see it in the pictures, but I tried to do some panelling in the dress, playing with the direction of the stripes. Except I ended up placing the bust darts wrongly on the panels – oops.
The hubs and I snuck out for the ‘photoshoot’ while the babies were asleep. The old choo-choo-train railway system is shutting down for good in Singapore, and the authorities have granted free public access to the railway station and tracks for two weeks, before it’s all dismantled. We wanted to take this last opportunity to mark the passing of an era.
Cotton/linen blend - nice and light! Unlined.
