South West, Unit...

This is the second summer dress. I was so excited I finished it all in one day, I had to take pictures right there and then. I am really happy with the result – check out that zip (so much better than the last one. I ankered it with the machine, but hand-sewed the important side. I also hand-stitched the lining onto it, it looks quite neat)! The best part: I’ve just discovered that the dress goes perfectly with my wedding shoes.

I used the basic bodice pattern and altered the neck line, omitted the sleeves. I lined the top part. The top skirt tier is from Cate, shortened, the others are simply added panels. My old sewing machine doesn’t have any embroidery stitches, so I simply zigzagged the neck line and the armholes.

No, it isn’t perfect, but I love it. Not least because it makes me look slimmer than I really am hihi. Here it is: a maxi for our holidays that I can also wear to a restaurant in the evening.

Thank you, vestiphobia, very kind. My wedding shoes were love at first sight… we were first doubtful they could be worn with a ball gown-y dress, but the seamstress who took in my dress got all excited when she saw them worn with the altered gown. That was it. Why be traditional? :-)

Those shoes are amazing! I love the color! And I was just doing my BurdaStyle rounds before heading off and making a maxi quite similar to this! (pattern wise… I haven’t decided the fabric but I know it’s hiding in the stash somewhere!) This is cute:D
