So I started off my adventures into sewing by taking some classes at my local community college. The whole group, men included, had to make a very unflattering A line skirt in a size 14. I bought some pretty cheap brown cotton to make the skirt as it was clearly going to be something for practice and not for wear. I downloaded the messenger bag pattern and decided that I wanted to make it in a practice fabric before tackling it in this lovely cordoroy that I had found so out came the seam ripper on the brown skirt and with the fabric remnants that I also had left I was able to fashion this brown bag which I do actually use. I lined it with an old sheet and made some little pockets to go inside too

My very patient sewing teacher at LACC whose insistence that I made a size 14 A line skirt enabled me to have enough fabric to do this remake on the skirt and turn it into a bag!
