I made this shirt over the course of a few days. The fabric was from my stash, a not-so-big piece I’d been wondering what to do with for a while, a yellow on cream floral print with a subtle stripe through it. I used Burda’s Sleeveless Blouse pattern (http://www.burdastyle.com/patterns/sleeveless-blouse-092011), since I liked the collar detail and thought it would look nice with the large all-over pattern. I’d seen a similar shirt in white on a friend and liked the look.
It took me a little while to work out the pleating, but I essentially followed the pattern. I made a 38 which fitted well, however it is a wide cut and I ended up tapering the sides in towards my waist. I also took a bit more out at the sleeves/arm holes as I don’t like my tops cutting in at my underarms. After reading others’ project overviews I cut the shirt without hem allowance at the bottom so I didn’t have to cut off too much fabric later on. With this alteration I’ve found that I mostly wear it ‘out’ over pants etc.
I had meant to put a slightly smaller button on, but these were the best colour match. I feel that with the slightly larger size it gives the top a more vintage-look.
I’ve not got any photos of me in the top yet, so I’ll post those later.
