Description

Another pattern mash up – I used Simplicity 1873 for the bodice, a gathered skirt pattern from Vogue 8723 and a sleeve pattern from ‘I cant remember’! I made the matching fabric belt with a belt kit from Sunni at www.afashionablestitch.com

I sewed it up in a vintage reproduction cotton.

Looks just lovely. I checked out the pattern as I’m trying to find a pattern with a boat neck fitted bodice and pleated skirt. I’m curious why you didn’t use the skirt of the Simplicity pattern?

Hi Sophie – from memory I opted to use a gathered skirt instead of the Simplicity skirt because it was a pleated skirt and I wanted a more vintage feel to the dress aesthetic. I redrafted the bodice top a little to make it boat neck too – was easy to do. :)

You look like a heroine from some old and kind romantic film! Very womanish image.

I like the way the neckline drapes, not too wide or deep. And the belt to cinch the waist is classic
