Description

This is a pattern I have wanted to make for a very long time. Its by Elaine May. I immediately knew that this yellow & white striped seersucker material was meant to be made into this dress. The best part of it is I got it on sale at my local shop during their New Years Day special!

I made it fully lined & hemmed the shell with yellow bias tape. The ruffle is not as wide as it should be, yet still works. I guess I did not realize the width of my back so had to fix the back bodice by adding a strip of material down the back. I made a note of it & will do better next time. My adjustment totally saved this dress. Lesson learned don’t panic when you mess up.

My philosophy is " If your not making any mistakes, then your not trying hard enough".

I use the seam ripper lots.

Material Notes

Cotton seersucker, zip, white cotton sheet material for lining.

Intermediate

great choice of material!!! i also like the ruffle change up. it looks perfect on this material. i too have seam ripper ( or 2) at hand when i sew. i have several projects in various unfinished stages because i “messed up” and just quit instead of problem solving like you did. I confess i didn’t notice until I went back. I was too busy looking at the zipper ( the bane of any sewing project i do). Congrats on a great dress. Hope you have many happy occasions in your bright, sunny dress.
