Description

stretch blue/black denim with a retro cowboy pleated split. I also put in a few spiral boning in at the waist (about 7" long) to help keep the shape when moving around…being very “hippy” (body wise….not flower power lol) high waisted skirts tend to creep up and bunch at the waist and the boning helps keep a smooth line. I used bias tape in red for the bone casing.

Its currently self faced at the waist but I’m thinking the fold is a little bulky so I might redo it a face it in the same cotton as the pleat

The pattern comes out quite roomy and I had to take in quite a bit so measure the pattern and work to your measurements rather then the size guild…no one wants a loose fitting pencil skirt ;)

Great skirt. I love the godet and the fabric you used there. What a great idea using the boning to keep the skirt in its original form! I read the fabric choice again in the pattern, maybe yours was roomy because you used stretch fabric instead of non-stretch?

Theres not much stretch in the denim to be honest just enough to give the skirt a little “give” when sitting..If I was to make it again in normal denim I would just reuse the altered pattern again. xx
