These are the first pants/shorts I ever did, but it’s not that difficult, once you figured out how it works. I like the fabric, but I’m not totally confident how it turned out. The fabric is a little bit stiff and makes the pleats to bulge. Also I made some alterations for a better fit, the shorts are still very wide. I consider to make them shorter, because I think the length it not so good for my legs. I also worry a little bit about the back. What do you think?
Edit: The last pic shows the Tonia shorts after I altered them. Now I like them more :)

Thanks for your lovely feedback on my apron. I have to say these shorts are very funky. I really like the “puffyness” of them. They feel like a modern take on those puffy pants that men historically wore in the royal court.

Love this! I’m a bit late, but I like them like they are (or were maybe…), they’re just what I would love to wear! A real piece of art! :D

No way, I love these and you’ve got legs to match. Even with a really fitted white tank, this would make such a great hot-summer-day outfit. The extra volume from the pleating makes it more unique and not just another pair of shorts.

Congrats on your first short! Although it doesn’t seam it was hard for you or smth! They look really cool! And the fabric and color are awesome for this model!
Nenasew is right this balloon shorts makes a person like me, for example, look fat… Although I would love to wear such shorts…. But it suits you perfectly!

They look very nice. I like the length but I agree with all the above. Shorter would be better for you. The ballooning in the front is not a bad fit, I think. The danger of extra fabric is that it can make a person look fat. You look great in the shorts

Cute. I like it a lot.

i think that you could put the pockets a little higher and maybe closer so it looks better from the back ;).
and if they look too wide maybe you could take in the side seams for better fit ;)

if you got it flaunt it! with legs as great as yours i would go shorter to, i think that would make them look awesome from the back as well.

Good job! They look good. :)

They look great on you, but with your legs you could so afford to have them shorter – I like the whole outfit together, the stripes on the top and tights match
I am just thinking that my flesh would fill out all the excess fabric ;-)

Hi Poly! Nice job, I’m impressed with the result! I agree with fashion1, the shorts would look better if they were shorter. Try as she explained, sew the pleats on the pants. If that doesn’t fit, try making darts instead of pleats. This solution would be more complicated, since you would have to narrow the pants in the hips area, too. The shorts look good on the back. However, pressing the seams on the back would do them good.

I think fashion1 hit it on the head. Since, your asking for tips, anyway. Honestly, I wouldn’t have noticed anything! They look really good! By the way your outfit is adorable, and the pictures are wonderful! Great job!

Cute shorts! That fabric is so nice! The length looks good in the first picture you have and if you’re worried about the back, you could place the pockets a little higher and closer together. You did a great job…quite professional!

I think you should make them shorter, look much better this way! The fabric is great for pants / shorts!
What you can do about the bulgy pleats is to sew them on the pants. Maybe about 5 cm from the waistband? I do this on my shower curtain dress where I had the same problem. Just test it with pin needles.

they’re great! you can definitely make them shorter! :p
