The idea for this skirt comes from a book called Sew What! Skirts: 16 Simple Styles You Can Make with Fabulous Fabrics by Francesca McClellan and Francesca DenHartog. It’s a great book with lots of different skirt ideas – gives you references for using your measurements to make your own skirt patterns. I measured my daughter and made her a pattern, used thick elastic covered in jersey at the waist and even figured out some shorts for underneath so it’s a skort. She’s been asking me to make her another skirt so I guess she’s pretty happy with it too.
