Description
I made this edgy dress a couple of weeks ago, but only recently started to wear it because of the beautiful weather!
I used the ever-popular Open Back Dress from burda style magazine’s March 2013 issue. I knew right away that I wanted to make this pattern, because it was in petite sizes and I absolutely loved the open back with straps. I altered the dress a little to better suit that fabric I was using. I omitted the gathered cap sleeves and used a different skirt silhouette. I used the bottom pencil skirt from my Galatic Space Dress.
The fabric that I chose what this exotic, paneled print, stretch cotton from Mood Fabrics. I fell in love with the four different prints you get in one yard, and I really like how they are the same color! For each section of the dress I used a different print. I knew I had to use the zebra print for center front, because I wanted it to resemble an X-ray print. I am not one for ‘girly’ dresses but not too harsh, and I think this is the perfect in between. I can wear with a nice pair of nude heels for a cocktail party, or pair it with sandals and a denim jacket for a casual day look.

I already asked the wonderful @DorisS about her Orange Beetle Dress. How necessary is the boning? Will I be showing everybody my chest if I just forget about it? Any fitting suggestions?

Hey!!!! I am so excited as well, I know you were with me when I found this fabulous fabric haha. The bodice fits a bit weird I had to take it in at the bust side seams. Hope all is well :)

All is well! Just finished setting up my new apartment last night – I have a sewing table and everything :) Hopefully I’ll be posting a project soon… I am going to finish the dress I started cutting out in the NY office – with the fabric I got the day you got this fabric :) :)
