This is my approach to the pattern 12/2012 Dress with contrasting bow.
Completely agree that it was really hard to figure out how to sew on the bow. No worries, after some desperation succeeded already by the second time :)
Worn by my sis. She also was the one who chose the color combination.
Some quality polyester for the dress part, if I remember correctly.
The bow actually made from lining fabric.

it looks great! if you wouldn’t mind explaining the bow part to me ,i would really appreciate it! I am making this for a friend and i really CAN’T understand what they mean! the bow itself is ok, but i don’t get the whole front neckband thing. thank you!

Oh, that’s complicated to explain & it is just my interpretation, but I will try :) First I stitched together dress neckline parts with the bows’ bottom part (right side to right side) the shoulder parts leaving non-stitched. Then unbend the bow and stitch to the left side of dress neckline parts by using the millimeter seam* from right side (I recommend to sew it by hand at the beginning). This time stitch also the shoulder parts (so they will be stitched with a single seam & will look prettier) – stitch the bow all around the neckline with a single seam.
