After coming back from my vacation I felt that my every day wardrobe needs refreshing. But from thinking to doing something about it – it’s a long way! I had the floral pattern fabric for a few years now, and the cream fabric I had purchased around the same time thinking to combine these two (both are cotton mix). Deciding on a design is always the hardest part. The premise was to make something simple but somehow that never quite comes true:)) For years I just left these fabrics aside because I didn’t get any inspiration for that simple design that is complicated enough to please me:)) I started working on this “tunic-like top” with something completely different in mind, but once you start eating you have to keep chewing, so I had to make it work. Most of my designs imply asymmetry – that’s not news anymore, is it?:)) That’s what makes it click for me and I feel my best creations will always have an asymmetrical cut or detail. Other features of this top: a small cream bow on one shoulder, sleeves with ties and slits on each side. The treatment of the cream fabric is similar up to a point to what happens to my wrinkled necklaces and definitely inspired from that. In a way I have created a new fabric by shirring, ironing, embroidering, applique-ing and double layering. It was fun, it was exciting, and I hope to use “this kind of fabric” again.

Innovative and striking but I believe it’d be lovelier without the sleeves. Well done and excellent job quilting!

This is really cute! The fabrics could have gone “grandma” style really quickly but you used just the right design and it looks great!
