Description

This is my second attempt at the wrap top. The first one was to short! I added 2" to this and I wish I had of added more. I wore this to the airport with the green pencil pants and of course I bleeped going through security lol. I had to go into this see through pod and raise my hands above my head? Well of course the top opened and rode up lol, mum said she knew I was breathing in lol. I have another one planned and it will be longer!! The trousers where so comfortable and similar to a pair I saw on Nikki minaj in a magazine. I also made a floral pair with matching vest!! The vest needs binding to finish it but I wore it anyway x

I like all the collection on this page, Mary:-) It seems all the things are paired well with each other. But the wrap top and pants are leaders. I liek both of the pattern and your variants as well. You have nice legs so the pants suit you very perfect. The prints of all the items are very nice. And I didn’t think the top is shorter than it shoud be until read your story:-) The situation in the airport seemed to be both comic and partly confusing but anyway you were dressed excellent and this last fact is the most important:-)))

Thanks oksana, the next one I make will be even longer.the top was a good length but I never took into account the fact that I could be standing with my hands above my head?? Lol. I love my comfort but I still want to look nice x

Your wrap top is great, I really like the fabric print. I never thought to use a knit for this top. And I agree, the pattern is too short !!!!! There is one airport we go through where everyone has to stand in the booth and put their arms on their head. I usually loose my balance and start to laugh !! Your photos are so much fun to look at !!!

The metal in my bra once set off the metal detector in an airport. The (fortunately female) officer said, “well it must be a good one!” as she was scanning me. Good, yes, I really do need all that metal. Your airport story made me chuckle, Mary! The outfits are cute – I particularly like the matching floral set.

Your story made me laugh as well. I always get stopped and when on the odd occasion I sail through check in I feel like punching the air with glee lol. Both of these patterns are great with a few tweaks x

Thanks izbott, I got lovely fabric last week to make another. I think this time instead of adding 2" I will add at least 5". A heavier fabric would make the split stay put as well lol x

Looks great on you, of course! I also made this top (in linen) and it was way too short. ( measurements, anyone?) It also had a tendency to open up, so I had to tack it closed in several places. I made a second one in a lycra knit and lengthened it about 6", still had to sew it closed, but the length was good and Mister likes it. I should get busy with camera and post those.

Thanks, I look forward to seeing yours. I only added 2" to this one and it was OK until I had to move my arms lol. Was the 6" a good length? I do like the clean lines on this and want to make a plain coloured one in a heavier fabric x

Six inches worked, I curved the back hem up a little at center back so it falls in a more flattering place on my derriere. Since I have to close the front panels an way, it occurs to me that I could make the pattern pieces so the underlap piece is just a faux panel at the hem. Much less fabric needed that way.

Thank you for the info. It’s a lovely pattern and simple enough to do. It’s just way shorter than the photo. X
