I haven’t made a piece of clothing since a pair of track pants in grade 8. That was 30 years ago. In recent years I’ve done a lot of home decor items, pillows, curtains, duvet covers, but I decided to make my wife this dress. It’s a simple pattern and I think it turned out quite nice. I just finished a second one and a skirt as well.

Material Notes

Stretch jersey fabric from Mood Designer Fabrics in LA.

That’s super cute and exactly the pattern I’m looking for! You did a fantastic job! May I ask which pattern you used?

Thank you Lisa. That’s the hope wrap dress. Very much like a classic Diane Von Furstenberg. I made my wife 3 in the last week in different prints. Mood Designer Fabrics has some great jersey prints.

Wow! Congratulations on this very lovely dress. It’s hard to believe this is your first garment since grade 8.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I think my experience with designing and building furniture and doing home renovations helps in making clothing. There are a lot of similarities but there’s not as much leeway with wood as there is with fabric. My wife wears it well too so I have to give her a lot of the credit. ;-)
