I made this suit jacket using vogue pattern V1169 by Rebecca Taylor. I wanted to set my self a challenge, and tackle some new techniques. I had lots of fun with the piping, the peplum and the welt pockets, and I’m glad to add them to my repertoire.
The jacket is fully interfaced and lined, and I used some cheeky green lining as a nice surprise contrast on the inside. It’s so nice when something looks neat and finished on the inside and out.
Even though there are a billion pieces to cut out for this pattern, I quite enjoyed putting it together.

Very nicely done! I bought that same pattern a few months ago and when I saw it I thought that I was completely out of my league. You have encouraged me to attempt it. Thanks for posting.

Thank you and good luck! The welt pockets are the hardest part, so take your time and don’t be disheartened. Once you’re past the pockets you’re home free!

J’adore also…but I just couldn’t deal with the cleavage wearing this jacket alone. What kind of t-shirts, blouses would look best underneath?

Yes agreed. When I wear it to work I’ll be wearing a singlet underneath for a bit of modesty!

Totally darling! And I love the peekaboo contrasting lining. What a great wardrobe staple too – it will go with anything! I love it paired here with your pencil skirt. Great classic appeal!

Thanks! I’m in the process of making the skirt. I wasn’t happy with how it turned out the first time, so I’m changing it.
