Okay, this is ANOTHER item based on a cardigan I saw in the BCBG winter catalogue. I spend way too much time perusing through it!
This time, I used McCall’s M5937, but made it one size smaller, and re-sized the lapel so that it looked more like the picture in the catalogue. I made a sash but decided it didn’t look really nice, so I added a fake sash in the back for some more detail. I didn’t buy enough fabric but luckily, I had just enough faux suede left over from my birthday dress project, so I used it on the lapel and the fake sash. The cardigan fabric is a really nice oatmeal-coloured wool knit blend lined with leftover bemberg lining from previous projects. I top stitched around the edges to give the cardigan a more finished look.
Although it’s not clear in the pattern, the pieces are actually all cut on a bias, so it has a very interesting subtle pattern to it.

I really like this! It’s like a more structured version of the Karen cardigan on here. I made a jersey muslin of it (posting tonight), and am still iffy about the fit of it. Maybe I’ll riff off yours and make it a bit shorter, so it’s more of a kicky jacket :)

The Karen definitely has a lot more drape in the front than this one. I find items with a lot of fabric tend to weigh me down, this cardigan acts like a coat on a mild day because it is, like you said, more structured.

I love it. I would wear it ALL the time! You did an amazing job making something not only wearable but very stylish. One question though, do you have a closure on it? Button, snap or something to keep it closed on a windy day?

Oops, I accidentally clicked on the inappropriate button! Know a way of undoing it????
And no, not yet. I was thinking of putting a hidden snap closure on it, but think that might affect the drape in the front. Luckily, it’s quite mild in Vancouver, so I should be able to get away with it.

Ahh pooh, I went to reply and did the ‘inappropriate" button too! Seriously, those are not in a good place.
I’m gonna get banned from Burdastyle for inappropriate use of the “inappropriate” button.

That looks absolutely amazing!! I love how you changed up the look from the pattern envelope. I wouldn’t look twice at it as it’s shown there. You’ve made it so wearable.
