Woodsy Flutter Dress

I purchased this bright orange “camo” print fabric not too long ago, and I wanted to challenge myself in making the fabric appear as feminine as possible. I love this novelty of this fabric, and all the colors in the print. I choose to make our V Neck Flutter Dress because of the full circle skirt and nice deep V. I made some design and fit adjustments since this is a tall sized pattern, you can read about my changes here.

Material Notes

Hi Meg. I have 3.6mt of silk and would love to make this dress, sleeveless but midi lenght. ideally, floor lenght, but I feel like this will not happen. My suggestion is to skip sleeves, facing (line bodice) and pockets and to make the skirt a 3/4 circle. Will it work? Also, to give the bodice some support, could I work with a cotton as lining or will that mess it all up? Thanks for your help!

Gosh, that has turned into a great dress. When I saw this pattern, I dismissed it at first, partly because of its tall sizing and partly because it looks a bit mumsy. But I really like what you’ve done with it. Great dress and fabric.

funny this didn’t read as camo until i read your description … I was thinking oooh great abstract print for that dress….so i say you succeeded on feminine override of the camo thing here!!

Oh my.. This is such a great dress to dance in. This is a Saturday night dancing dress! Those shoes are fantastic. You should get some cushions for those heel cause there are smokin’. Super smart taking a man fabric & turning it into something saucy.
