I adore this dress!! I made it this Wednesday for a Woman’s day Party and am ready to wear all the days round:)) It took me just a day to sew it including cutting. Very easy and quick to make but the enjoyment to wear is much greater:))
Maybe I like it so much because from the moment of buying fabric and till the moment of having the dress ready there passed only three days!
I think it’s a universal item because is good either for work or for a walk or for a date:)
I used the pattern #123A for a shorter dress but the length is their only difference.
Made of crepe, the fabric is very soft, well-draping, comfortable for wearing. The draped/ruffled half is quite heavy so don’t use too thick fabric.

It’s one of the prettier versions I have seen ( and I have seen a lot) , you managed to give it finesse although in the magazine looked like a robe.

Thank you very much!
No, it just looks like a robe on their models:)) I only made a slight fitting at the waist, decrease for one size. I think the softness of the fabric is important, it has to hug not to keep shape.

oh that is just lovely! i shall have to make one now! Like you i tend to have to butcher the patterns to get a better fit! I always find it interesting to read how other people alter their patterns. its helpful to get alteration tips. its wonderful to see some one look so happy and confident, and timelessly elegant.

This is so beautiful, I would love to make it myself. Did you have to do a fba.

Thank you very much! I really recommend it, very quick and easy project.
What is “fba”?
Mar 10, 2013, 02.26 PMby Sewindubai
A fba is when you have to slice the pattern and alter it to accommodate a larger bust size

No, I usually make changes in patterns from Burda but not for bust, I use size 40, it’s enough for my bust.
I broaden an armhole for front and back to size 42, then decrease the line to the waist size 40 and increase again for hips and use a sleeve for size 42. I also make a shorter back. It’s hard to explain but I’ll try.
From the top of centre back I mark 1.5 cm down , put the paper pattern to this new mark for center back neckhole and the end of a shoulder for size 40 and then draw a new line for a neckhole and shoulder. This way the patten fits me and I avoid slouching back.
