This is made from sueded shearling using out of print pattern McCall 3985.
Material Notes
Sueded Shearling ($$) from Vogue Fabrics. While it’s pricey (right now it’s $21 a yard) it’s so worth it. Completely washable. All sorts of spills can be washed out in the washing machine. You don’t need to be hem the edges either. HOWEVER, this stuff sheds like crazy during the cutting stage. Either do this outside or rent a room (as I do at Vogue Fabrics in Evanston).
More tips:
- skip notches they mar finished edge.
- use teflon sewing foot
- leather sewing needle not necessarily. I used 90 Stretch needle.
