This is my first quilting project and something I will admit I created when I was pregnant, my little man is 16 mths now, so sometime ago. I wanted something for the Aussie winter that was not too heavy. I had been inspired by 1950’s bed jacket, 18th century jumpers, Japanese wedding hoods and a modern leather moto jacket. Lets just say it evolved.
I drafted the pattern myself and actually enjoyed it as it is not something I usually do. I learnt draping and it opened up a whole new world to me :)
I can wear the hood several ways and I like the versatility of that. I am slowly getting back in to sewing now so fingers crossed I will have something more recent to show soon.
The outer fabric is a beautiful berry sorbet pink jacquard and the inner fabric is a very soft cotton voile. I used a reel of vintage pertersham to finish the edges by binding. There is a cotton, bamboo blend wadding in the body and hood quilted in a shelI pattern. I used cotton flannel on the arms to allow more movement.
New pattern categories and how-to changes.
