Burda Style For people who sew
Description
The pattern was made by myself, using the bunka style sloper block and an ordinary straight skirt pattern.
You can find the bunka style sloper block in the book of Tomoko Nakamichi (Pattern Magic). The straight skirt pattern is based on a pattern in the (Dutch) book Basisboek Patroontekenen, by Detje Bosgra. Some adjustments had to be made to make the darts from bodice and skirt be aligned.
Material Notes
For the dress: non-stretch, some stiffness, shining.
I used the fabric of bodice and skirt in two different directions, resulting in a different shine.
I needed some very stiff material for the wings.

The wings should be designed in the right place: somewhere where the body is ‘convex’. It is also well possible to make ‘wings’ at the shoulder, hips or breast region. It is all well explained in the book Pattern Magic by Tomoko Nakamichi. I put something soft but quite unflexible in the wings of my dress. It consists of two layers of denim.
