Description

Another impulse fabric purchase! I spotted this on the clearance rack at Spotlight awhile back, and bought 2 metres with no plans of what to make. I had been thinking of a top of some sort, but I had so much fabric I then thought maybe a dress? And then last week I had Friday off work, wanted a quick and easy sewing project and decided on a girly gathered skirt.

It’s a super-basic gathered rectangle skirt. I cut about a 15cm strip off the width of the fabric to use for a waistband, then cut the rest of the fabric in half length-ways. I sewed the two narrow ends together and hand gathered it all onto the waistband piece, which I then folded over and stitched down to hide the raw gathered edge. Then the hem and it was done! It only took a couple of hours in total, and it’s very pretty and girly.
