Description

Wow, look at the great suit I made over the weekend!

Just kidding: For my man’s 40th birthday, I sourced a good tailor for a bespoke suit of his choosing. He chose a ‘60s style slim black suit and a shirt with french cuffs, then he found vintage TWA pilot’s cufflinks and tie tack, but couldn’t find a narrow tie that he liked. I followed the tutorial on designmom’s blog – fairly quick and easy, but I didn’t manage to centre the fold on the back. Meh. Looks good from the front, so that’s all that matters (to me at least).

Material Notes

Silk papyrus print tie from the Metropolitan Museum of Art (well, actually from a thrift shop).

I was just wondering earlier if it could be done.

An interesting idea, to give a tie something of a diet to slim it down. I might keep that in mind. Personally I think with that pattern the tie loses with a slim form. But if you like it, that’s what counts.
