Description
I wanted to make a shirtwaist dress that would fit me during early pregnancy, as well as once the baby is here. The button front will make this a perfect dress for nursing, while the generous, full skirt will allow me to accentuate my natural waist as I work on losing the baby bump.
As I have been frustrated by the poor quality of maternity clothes, I decided that this dress would bare no resemblence. I made bound button holes (for all ten buttons), used french seams, and concealed every raw edge of fabric.
I love the result of this dress. I am already at 20 weeks, so the dress won’t fit me for much longer, but once my little one is here, it will be my go-to dress. You can find more on my blog.
