Description

A self drafted dress pattern, using the “Dress with draped design” adaptation from Pattern Magic. I had high hopes for this one. The fabric is a georgette I was sent by a friend in the States. Playing with the paper to make the pattern went ok, making the dress with all its French seams was fine. Wearing it is different. This fabric is not exactly suited to the style, it’s just too slippery/drapey. I am not sure whether I like it enough to actually wear in public, but as it is now a finished project, I might as well complete the process. There is more info if you need it on the blog.

I love the colors in the fabric. I think the problem with the draping is that the georgette doesn’t have enough weight to create the drape. That may be what you meant by slippery? But the dress stands alone as a nice garment if you forget about what you originally had in mind for the design.

Thanks, I love the colours too. The fabric doesn’t have the drape, or the body to hold up properly, the pattern does need something with more weight to it. But – you live and learn hu? I will do it again in a different fabric, and with different sleeves!
