Brooklyn, New Yo...
My wedding was held on a farm in Iowa in late summer. The natural setting of the farmhouse, barn, and surrounding prairie inspired me to keep the decorations simple. Everyone sat at picnic tables, and I sewed these table runners as place mats that extended across the table.
The final table runners were 3’6" long (for approximately 6" drape at each place setting) and 19.5" wide. I did a simple fold along each edge, pressing flat, then folding up the corners at a 90 degree angle and again folding up the edges so they met. Then a dotted zig zag stitch to finish the edges, and I was finished!
We placed 3 per table, one each for 6 pairs of facing diners at a table. The cake rock beach fabric (Joelle Hoverson) went beautifully with the outdoor theme, and we added some ditch weeds in antique mason jars from my Great Grandmother. We secured the table runners against a breezy escape using a staple gun.
A simple, yet beautiful homemade decorative touch.
