My sister got married recently. It was quite quick so the dress was bought off the rail, and she didn’t like the sash at the back (see last picture). Since we’d had trouble finding a bolero she liked I volunteered to make one for her using the sash.

This is totally gorgeous. I can’t believe you had enough fabric from a sash to get something this classic and beautiful.

What a classy bolero! I just made a similiar project, making an entire wedding dress overnight for my sister-in-law’s ceremony! You can see pictures of it here: http://www.edelweisspatterns.com/blog/?p=1863
Happy sewing!

Thanks for sharing this. I went to your blog and read what you had to do to separate t he sash from the dress. Pretty courageous! What a beautiful result.
