Description

I went to a wedding last weekend and had to make a new dress to wear. It was a relatively informal garden wedding so I didn’t want to get too fancy. I knew I wanted a wrap bodice but a non-wrap skirt, so I used the bodice front and back of Butterick See & Sew 5546 and the circley skirt of McCalls 6599, with “self-drafted” tulip sleeves. I used the sash from the Butterick pattern but instead of sewing it to the dress and weaving it through one of the sides, it’s just a free belt that is tied in a bow and held up with thread loops.

Nice! The fit is great, as is how you matched the print.

Perfect in all aspects. The diagonal prints add to this flowing style. Nice and flattering.

love this. Great idea to combine different skirt with the wrap bodice. Wrap skirts can be a pain-very smart!. Nice how this turned out.

What a fabulous dress! I love how you combined those different patterns – it makes a perfect dress, and the fabric goes also very well with it! I bet you were the most beautifully dressed person of the day, after the bride, of course!
