This is a test run of the Kristen pattern from some of my stash fabric before cuttin’ into the good stuff (some beautiful silk.) I like making wearable muslins so when the first version turned out just way too loud for me, I dyed it with Rit dye (Denim Blue). Much better.
Alterations – slightly wider waistband, slightly longer and fuller skirt, did facings instead of linings because I’m lazy.

Gorgeous!! I’m planning on making this dress in black for the Tessuti awards and your gorgeous test run has inspired me to do the same for my test run. I’ll be using some fabric from my stash before cutting into the good stuff. :)

So not a practice dress to me: I LOVE it how it is! Great idea with the dye, I love loud dresses but sometimes you only want a little bit of that to shine through!
Makes me want to experiment more with Dyes, I like how this has a washed colour look, I thought dyes would completely darken a pattern fabric!

The dress looks very nice after you dyed it! It made the dress look more modern retro than retro retro.

Cool! This looks so gorgeous. I love how you altered the fabric, for some reason I wouldn’t have thought to dye such a loud fabric with blue to make it more muted. It’s too bad, because I just gave away some sheets that looked really similar to your original fabric, and now I see what they might have become! Anyway, awesome dress; it makes me like the pattern more.

Love the fabric transformed and my misgivings of the Kristen pattern have been proven unfounded, can’t wait to see your silk version.

I understand the part about it being too loud originally, but wow that dye made the dress gorgeous! Great job!
