Same pattern, take four! I eliminated the pockets for smooth side lines, raised both the back neckline and the front, quite a bit (Joan Halloway never reveals much skin!), added 3/4 length sleeves, and added vertical bust darts on the front, above the waistline. Because it is more form-fitting, I also added a center back zipper, to help get in and out.
I also lengthened and deepened the back darts, they are almost 11" in length, total, and I lifted the point of the dart 2" so that it would fall in the curve of my back.
This process of proper fit is never ending…

gorgeous dress! I love the color. The fit is great. I’m afraid I don’t have the patience to fit myself that well. Maybe if I had dressmaker’s form…

That’s a lot of fitting! You must have lots of patience. :) But all for the cause, right? Lovely colour, and the fit looks great. Perfect for autumn :)

If I stay on this track, I’ll be able to justify spending money on a custom-fit dressmaker’s form, though, right, right? I’ll be able to say I really NEED it! ;)
