Burda Style For people who sew

I don’t think these cats are Siamese (I dunno, one might be. I’m not good at cats) but this song was stuck in my head the whole (mercifully short) time it took to make this cushion.

This was one of my Grammie’s favourite tshirts, and my aunt kept it after Grammie died in December. She asked my mother if she could turn this and another shirt into cushions for her. Mum’s sewing machine doesn’t work anymore, so I took them. This shirt had been hacked up a bit and there was no way to make a large cushion with it, so I made an oddly sized little rectangular cushion with it.

The piping was a bitch, but I wanted something on the edges rather than having just a boring rectangle, and I happened to have the piping in my stash anyway. Apart from the hassle with the piping, this was quick and easy. It only took about an hour, and most of that time was taken up fighting the piping.

The hole in the side seam has been left unsewn in the photos, because I’ll be mailing it unstuffed to the US. My aunt will have to stuff it and sew up the last bit of seam.
