So… after seeing theclosetseamstress’s post of her pencil skirt upcycled from a men’s shirt, I decided to give it a go. My fiance kindly donated an old shirt that he no longer wore (see last photo) and off I went, thanks to theclosetseamstress’s wonderful tutorial on her blog. The only difference was that I used interfacing in the waistband for improved durability and shape. It was the easiest and quickest skirt I’ve ever made, taking only 3 nights of after-work sewing.

This is a wonderful idea! I have been mulling through mens shirt refashions for a while, and hording my husbands discarded button ups, but this is the first I really love. I will be trying this out this weekend, thanks!
