It seems like this is the hot pattern to make these days on Burdastyle so here I am following suit. The neckline of this pattern turned out really big so I took the shoulders up about an extra inch. I think this pattern is so fun and I can’t wait to make more versions of it!

I recently bought this pattern too and have purchased two fabrics to make it up in — but I think it will be for next year now as I working on winter garments. Thanks for the tip about the neckline !

I made this, but I had the same problem with the neck line. I’ll have to try taking up the shoulders! It looks great!

HI I am thinking of making this but wondered… is this likely to blow about in the wind?? i.e on a blustery day are you likely to be showing some underwear as its a wrap dress? ha ha Have a fear of showing my bum off on a windy day!

There’s so much fabric that you shouldn’t have to worry about that. I made this pattern for myself and for my sis-in-law as her wedding dress. Lighter fabrics work better (NOT cotton) because the dress ends up being so heavy. Also, watch the arm holes. Taking the shoulders up an inch sounds like a good solution. I ended up taking my apart and using it for something else because when I made it with cotton it was too heavy and you could see my bra.

Yes I would agree there shouldnt be too much of a problem unless per chance you are in a tornado but the skirt is a full circle skirt so theres plenty to cover up the bum.

Great! Thanks inthewordinc and Sewlthought. Not planning on being in Tornados but live in England which is renowndly windy and wet. But what the heck as long as there is bum coverage I’m happy. So you would suggest light fabrics?! I’ll give it a go!

I’ve got this but hear a lot about the front panel riding up, did you find that or are people just being a little alarmist?

After I took the shoulders up I havent had any trouble with it riding up

I keep hearing that, too, and I have a theory: it seems like all the women who make this and have it ride up are fairly slim, and not all that curvy. This was designed for a serious waist-to-hip ratio, so it kind of makes sense it would work well for fuller figures.
My other theory is that, indeed, people use fabric that is too heavy for it. But I don’t know yet, because this is still on my “to sew” list.

love this. it looks great on you, and it’s got sass but with a little house on the prairie kind of vibe! I’m digging it.

Is this with a pattern? I saw a pattern like this from one of the big 3 recently. it is a retro. I was going to get it but was hesitant because I like the retro looks but I want to make it me. I like the contrast colors. I think I might get it because I just had an epiphany. ;)
