My husband won tickets on Friday night for Saturday night’s Smackdown vs ECW wrestling show. Me being me, immediately said “I have nothing to wear!” and drew up this design. Started it about 1:30 on Sat afternoon, and finished about 6. The fabric, while I love the color and feel, was an absolute nightmare to sew. between the stretching, and the slipping, and the ROLLING, I about had a fit. At about 3 pm, I thought, ‘hey! I’m almost done! maybe I can make TWO shirts today!’ that’s when everything decided to make my life miserable. I ripped the bust seams, cut, re-gathered, re-sewed, ripped seams again…I would try it on, and pin it in place, and it would be great, and then try to sew it, and it would look like a 5 year olds art project gone wrong. I think it finally turned out halfway decent, although again, not exactly as I envisioned it (I wanted the side sleeves tighter- next time.) I still like it.
But if I ever see this fabric at the store again, I will run away from it. Cause I’m pretty sure it’s evil.
Devil fabric.

Love it! Makes me wonder about that black jersey I have in my stash…

I’m laughing, but I know exactly what you went through. I think it turned out perfectly! The sleeves are unique, love those!

I think it’s not a devil fabric now on. It’s a gothic costume.

Even thought your fabric-horrorstory really made me laugh, I can imagine the frustration… I looks gorgeous though! It’s so unusual and creative in the design, it makes me happy ^^ I really think you could do a corset hands down!

Looking back, it makes me laugh now…but I was ready to start throwing things at the time! And I’ve already worn it quite a few times, and I like it more every time I wear it.
Thanks for the vote of confidence! I need to find/draft a pattern I’m comfortable with now…the one I have is more for a plain undergarment type, and the one I want is more like the one you made.

I actually like the sleeves that loose and I definitely love the colour! (Maybe my tastes are changing, but this is the second green garment today that I like, even though I don’t like green in clothing usually) Sorry it caused you so much pain, but the result is beautiful!!!

Thanks! I do like the way the sleeves ended up, it’s just not what I originally planned. So I think I’ll do a variation on this. With more cooperative fabric, of course.
Maybe it’s a certain shade of green you are liking? I know that’s the way it works for me with different colors -some shades I can’t stand while others I love.

I don’t know – I am not against green in general, but I never liked it in clothing (any shade)… Lately though I seem to like it, but I don’t think I am ready to try something green on myself. ;-)

And you should definitely make more of these – it fits you so well and you look very nice in it!

Hahaha, I love the story. I’d never have guessed the pain and sacrifice it took because it looks really cool! I hope you get lots of wear out of it by way of victory over the evil fabric, LOL

I’ve already worn it twice :D I’m sure it will get lots more use, since it’s kinda in the middle of dressy and casual.
