took the basic pattern for the voluminous skirt and added pockets and a 3" elastic waistband

    Was the sleeve a separate piece which you then sewed onto the rest of the skirt? Or was it all one piece of material that you added the waistband to?

      the skirt is basically two pieces, one large rectangle for the front, and one large rectangle for the back (the pockets are extra pieces though). the part where the elastic is is sewn the same way you’d sew a hem

    i didn’t get your instructions on how to add the pockets or waistband at all. i’m a complete novice. would you like adding instructions that is a little bit more idiot-proof?

      okay I’ll try to explain it better :) I don’t really have instuctions…

      you know how to make a hem on a skirt? you fold it over and sew…basically the part where the elastic is, is made the same way you’d make a hem. you fold it over and leave enough space for the 3" wide piece of elastic. then you slip the elastic through that. does that make sense?

      thanks! it’s a 3" elastic waistband. you just sew a sleeve light you normally would for elastic and slip the elastic through with gathers the fabric…then you take it and stretch it until the fabric is not gathered and sew over it…I hope that makes sense, it’s real easy once you know how!
