Burda Style For people who sew

Meet the inaugural project of my new sewing machine! (I challenge you to get a boyfriend who will buy you a Singer 9960 for your birthday)
The pattern is Vogue 8747, which incidentally I somehow liked enough in my subconscious to buy two copies of (on separate occasions). And I do like it rather a lot – it’s a good fit right out of the envelope. The only slight change I made was shortening the sleeves fairly significantly (maybe 1-2 inches?). Other than that, went swimmingly.
The fabric is from my mother’s 25-year-old stash, it looks like it’s probably some type of coarse silk. Same fabric as I used to make my little baby Olivia dress for his brand new niece!
