I made this dress in a cream ponteroma – it turned out pretty heavy, but I like that because I can wear it into the fall. It turned out a little big, but rather than sizing it down, I just left out a zipper and pull it over my head. I did sew clear elastic into the waistline to keep it from sagging. I also lined all but the top front bodice with nude lycra knit. I left the lining out of the top front bodice because I was afraid it would end up too bulky with all of the gathering. I feel like this dress has a really flattering shape. If I sew it again, I will make a snugger fit and add a zipper, but I am happy with this first run through.

    Nice! Looks great on you.

Thanks for the tips. I never got it made this summer, but hopefully next summer. I have the same type of material to make it out of. Question: did you shorten it?

Thank you! I had this pattern and the fabric sitting and waiting for me for a year before I finally sewed it! Always too many projects on my list :)

I did shorten this dress…I am having trouble remembering how much, but I believe I took 3-4 inches off

You should definitely give this pattern a try – it’s not difficult and it has fun details like lapped seams

I love ponteroma too! I didn’t splurge on this either like I tend to do with my fabric – just picked it up at Joann’s and the quality is very decent
