Vogue 2960 Dress

Melbourne, Austr...

This is my first post and I’m not sure whether I can even post creations that aren’t from burda patterns! but here goes…

I bought this Vintage Vogue pattern (#2960) online because I wanted a project to do over my summer holidays. I chose a floral fabric with pastel colours which worked well, but if I made another of these dresses I would definitely go for a more fun print (e.g. dark blue with patterns on it or something). I finished my dress in time for a 09/10 New Year’s race meeting near my home town and even managed to get my picture in the local paper! I made a little fascinator to go with it too (originally it was going to have a beaded face net, but due to time constraints and issues with the net, I just wore the fascinator as a headband).

Material Notes

I used a furnishing fabric for this dress – i.e. a fabric (with backing) used for making curtains or upholstering furniture. I’ll find out the exact fabric make-up and post it here soon…

Garment Type
Cotton, Blends

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I will definitely get a few full length shots when I am home next (dress is back at my family home 100km away). Awesome that we can post creations that aren’t specifically burdastyle – I shall have to get posting!!!

I made this recently for a friend’s wedding and it turned out great, I love how full the skirt is. The fabric you chose is really wonderful and very pretty.

Absolutely you can post projects from patterns that aren’t BurdaStyle. Welcome to the community. Your dress looks wonderful, I think that was the perfect fabric choice and it’s great to see some during construction shots, so jealous you made it in tot eh paper, you should be super proud of you work :)
