I spotted this fantastic purple fabric at the store and reminded me of this Miu Miu AW12 pattern, which I thought this was a slight imitation of, but once I checked I realised it was more Carnaby street then 5th avenue, so then I knew exactly which pattern to pair it with!
I got this 1967 Vogue 7219 pattern from ebay. It’s a Step-in dress with top-stitch trimming and full length sleeves. It also has pockets in the side seams. I graded the width of the sleeves down as they were very puffy and I narrowed the shoulders down a little because the puff of the sleeve was sitting off of my shoulder
It also has 6 bound buttons down the front – a first for me! They’re a bit wrinkled in the photo from wear. I used the basic techniques from the Complete Guide to Sewing. And I inserted plackets on the sleeve cuffs. One thing I never used to do properly. I also couldn’t find any matching buttons in my collection of some 3000+ buttons so I had to go a buy a button making kit too.
Vogue Patterns are a little more tricky and require more hand-stitching, but this was pretty worth it.
