In this project and challenge entry some fun touches were added to Indygo Junction’s IJ823, Over the Top Tunic. While still remaining very much in the present I also reached back to a simple, happy time by dipping into my vintage collection to contribute to my entry.
The tunic has a fun scalloped hemline and an overhand knotted belt on tunic back. Red, orange, yellow rickrack and yellow loop braid trim are included on the tunic sleeves, inset and waistline. Parts of a vintage hand-embroidered linen table runner appear as the front tunic inset and as the appliques on the tunic back.
Many thanks for this fun contest and for your great contributions to the art of sewing to Indygo Junction, Coats & Clark and BurdaStyle!
The overall tunic fabric nods to modern as the fabric is a fun print in a a great red, yellow and orange. The fabric is a cotton piece by Brandon Mably for Rowan Westminster Fibers, #MB17 Burlesque Brocade.
